Trinity college was founded by Henry VIII in 1546 and the king’s statue stands above the main entrance gate. Originally, however, Henry was holding a sword. In the 1900s, some students climbed up the gate, as a joke, and replaced the sword by a chair leg. Since then, the sword has never reappeared and the infamous chair leg is still in place today. ~~ Trinity Collège fut fondé par Henry VIII en 1546 et sa statue trône au-dessus du porche. A l’origine, Henry tenait une épée mais, en 1900, des étudiants grimpèrent sur le porche et la remplacèrent par un pied de chaise. L’épée n’a jamais été retrouvée et le pied de chaise est toujours en place.
