The Guildhall in Priory Park was originally the Church of the Greyfriars. In 1538, the building became the town hall. When the town hall was transferred to North Street, the court of justice moved in. In 1804, William Blake, the poet and painter, was prosecuted in the guildhall for criticising the government. In Chichester, drunks were put to the pillory. The punishments stopped in 1852. ~~ Le « Guildhall » de Priory Park était à l’origine l’église de la confrérie des Greyfiars.
