William Shakespeare was born in 1564, probably in April and probably here, at Shakespeare’s birthplace, although there is absolutely no historic proof of it. His baptism, however, was recorded. It took place on the 26th of April 1564. William was the son of Mary Arden, the daughter of a rich landlord, and John Shakespeare, a wealthy glove-maker.
