L'origine de Warwick remonte au monde anglo-saxon. Cette ville, perchée sur une colline, était protégée par des remparts et contrôlait la rivière Avon. Warwick was built in Anglo-Saxon times on a small hill which controlled the Avon Valley where it was crossed by the roads to London, Stratford, Coventry and the salt way to Droitwich. The town was surrounded partly by a wall and partly by a ditch.
