The first Peterbuilt truck was built by T.A. Peterman, in 1932. Peterman was a plywood manufacturer and he needed heavy-duty trucks to transport his logs from the forest to his plant. Being a motor enthusiast and a skilled mechanic he decided to build himself the vehicles he wanted from old army chassis. The trucks built by Peter were so efficient that professionals became interested and he sold his first “Peterbuilt” to the public in 1939. ~~ Le premier “Peterbuilt” fut construit par un certain T.A Peterman en 1932. Peterman était un fabricant de contre-plaqué qui avait besoin de gros camions pour amener le bois jusqu’à son usine. Dans son temps libre, Peter était aussi mécanicien et il décida de construire son propre véhicule sur un vieux chassis de l’armée. Ainsi naquit le “Peterbuilt” qui se révéla être si bien conçu pour sa tâche que Peter abandonna le contre-plaqué pour vendre des camions.
