King’s College was founded by king Henry VI of England in 1441 but it only gained recognition when king Henry VII paid for the construction of the buildings. The work was completed in 1544 by Henry VIII who, for this reason, appears on the outside wall. ~~ King’s Collège fut fondé par Henry VI qui régnait sur l’Angleterre en 1441 mais l’institution fut seulement reconnue quand son successeur, Henry VII, paya la construction. Les travaux furent terminés en 1544, sous le règne de Henry VIII. C’est la raison pour laquelle c’est lui qui apparaît sur le mur d’enceinte.
