Lincoln was the capital of Roman England. The town was founded, under Domitian, at the northern end of the Roman road called the «Fosse Way». Lincoln, or Domitiana Lindensium as it was then called became the retired legionnaires’ favourite place. When the legions left England, in 410, activities and trade declined and the city was virtually deserted at the end of the 5th century. ~~ Lincoln était la capitale de l'empire romain en Angleterre.
