I was born in 1864 on the 4th of July. The event took place on a rowboat, on the river Thames, and the man who was rowing was a maths teacher. Isn't that strange ? The man had promised that he would entertain a young girl he had accepted to look after for a couple of hours and I am told that he had arrived... late. Rather tham looking for excuses he invented the character of a rabbit with a watch who said that, he too, was late. The rabit invited the young girl to follow him down the rabbit hole... I was born ! The maths teacher's name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and he taught at Christ Church College. C'était moi et j'ai invité la fillette à me suivre dans mon terrier. Le prof de maths s'appelait Charles Lutwidge Dodgson et il enseignait au Christ Church College. La fillette se nommait Alice, Alice Liddle, et c'était la fille d'un ami de Charles. Depuis j'ai appris que Charles se faisait appeler Lewis, Lewis Carroll, mais je n'y prête pas attention. C'est assez compliqué comme ça.
